Entry Requirements
- Candidates with Second Class degree (lower division) or better in Engineering; Science (Applied Science, Natural Science and Physical Science); Technology; Agriculture and Natural Resources; Medicine; and related courses from a recognised university who are interested in self-employment and starting new venture.
- Candidates with the requisite first degree (i.e. at least Second Class Lower Division) in non-technical areas of Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Economics, Social Science and other Business related programmes may be considered provided they clearly demonstrate entrepreneurial aspirations and interest in technology during an interview.
- Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) Certificates with a minimum of two years working experience will be required to undertake a 2-years top-up programme before being considered for the MSc programme. Applicants with First class/Second class Upper will be required to do 1year top-up instead of 2 years. However, the course content of the applicant(s) would be assessed in relation to the course applied for.
- Candidates with CEMBA/CEMPA/MBA qualifications would be admitted into the programme under special arrangement for MPhil or MSc degree; students would be required to complete selected taught modules and a research project within 1 Year (2 Semesters). Additional semester for MPhil with CEMBA/CEMPA.
- MPhil candidates must show strong research capability and must submit a research proposal of 3,000 to 5,000 words as part of the admission requirement.
Requirement for Graduation
To qualify for the award of MPhil/MSc degree in Technology Management and Entrepreneurship at KNUST, like most graduate programmes, students must:
- Complete all taught core and elective courses and should have passed all registered taught courses prescribed by the Academic Board;
- Obtain 95 credits (in the case of MSc Award) and 105 credits (in the case of MPhil Award) and achieve a minimum cumulative weighted average (CWA) of 55%.
- All students shall be admitted into the programme as MSc students in the first instance.
- Students who wish to progress into the MPhil would have to meet the minimum requirement set by the IDL Board
MSc Awards
- MSc students must complete individual/group project research and submit a project report with word counts between 5,000 and 10,000 words.
- The project research report shall be assessed by two (2) internal assessors and one (1) external assessor.
- Students would also be required to give seminar(s) on the progress of their project research work.
MPhil Awards
- MPhil students must complete individual project research and submit a thesis with word counts between 10,000 and 20,000 words.
- MPhil students would also be required to write a research paper as part of the requirement for graduation. Both the thesis and the research paper should contain approved statement of originality of between 150 and 250 words. Research paper (s) at least merit publication.
- Students would also be required to give seminar(s) on the progress of their thesis and pass an oral examination on their theses in the second year (fourth semester).
- The thesis shall be assessed by two (2) internal assessors and one (1) external assessor.
